Died of serious head wounds at No 3 Stationary Hospital Rouen on 23rd September 1918 aged 24.

He had returned to his unit in France only three weeks before his death after being granted special leave to visit his father who had been seriously ill.

Burial Place

Charles is buried in the St. Sever Cemetery Extension Rouen France.




He was born in Belper and enlisted in Derby in 1916 and was the son of Mr and Mrs H Stone of the Duke of Devonshire Bridge Street Belper.
